Dinosaurs Sold to the Highest Bidder

dinoauction.jpg

Sure, you could have visited an exclusive art auction and tried to get your hands on an original Picasso or Monet, but what you wanted something that is a little older. I'm not talking a couple hundred years or even a thousand years. How about gong back 70 million years to get a huge (and I do mean huge) piece of history.

That's exactly what happened last night when Maynard's hosted an auction that saw the sale of dinosaur fossils. No, these are not replicas. These are the real deal, dug up from the ground, and processed to museum quality. The Triceratops skull shown above is but a single example of the fossils that went on sale last night, along with various dinosaur parts and fossils.

Where did these come from? The fossils have been on display at Science World since October and, I suppose, that part of the exhibition has now come to a close. Bids came from a number of buyers, including private collectors and institutions from around the world.
