As much as we love the BC Lions and their football antics, as much as we may enjoy a night out with the Whitecaps or the Canadians, it's obvious enough that Vancouver is definitely a hockey team. Everyone in the city is pretty excited about the NHL season, even if we no longer have Markus Naslund or Brendan Morrison. Even without these stars, the Canucks have managed to get off to a terrific start.
Yes, preseason games may not matter all that much, but it is reassuring that the Vancouver Canucks were able to score back-to-back wins against the Edmonton Oilers. This reflects very well on some of the younger talent in the Canucks organization, because these are the guys that are trying to earn a few minutes and a more solidified spot on the roster.
This good news seems to come with a pretty serious caveat, though. Mattias Ohlund recently had an interview with a local radio station, hinting that this could be his last season with the Canucks. More specifically, he only has one year left on his contract and, in his own words, he's "pretty comfortable with having one year left and we'll see what happens. If it doesn't work out, we'll move on and find something else but I've got one year left and we'll figure it out." Goodbye Matty?
