Canadian Broadcasters Launch Their Olympic Websites

canadian broadcast olympics

We're still just over a year away from the start of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics, but Canadian broadcasters are wasting little time getting their web coverage in order. Today, the Canadian Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium officially went live with two Olympic websites, CTVOlympics.ca and RDSolympiques.ca. In case you were wondering, this is the earliest broadcasters have ever launched Olympic destination sites for an upcoming games, but with good reason. With so much media being transferred and consumed on the web, broadcasters recognize that their web offering will be on the front-lines of their coverage of the games.

“We are seeing an evolution in the way Canadians consume media. It’s all about choice and customization. We, as content providers, are offering consumers the opportunity to experience the Games how they want and when they want, whether it be on our dedicated Olympic websites, one of our official 11 television networks or 10 radio stations, or all at the same time .. We are redefining how Canadians consume content and putting them in control of their own personal Olympic Games experience." Keith Pelley, President, Canada’s Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium
