Canada Line and Evergreen Line Updates

canadaline.jpg

Translink has been keeping busy lately, so let's have a look at how the Skytrain extensions are coming along.

The Canada Line (RAV) will like Downtown Vancouver with the Airport and Richmond. According to 24 Hours,. the construction along No. 3 Road in Richmond is "a bit ahead of schedule" and they hope to have the main guideway complete "in a matter of months." This should easy traffic along that big street in Richmond. Cambie in Vancouver is a different matter altogether.

Checking in with the The Metro, they're saying that the Evergreen line is $400 million short in funding, meaning that the line connecting Coquitlam, Burnaby, and Port Moody may be delayed until 2013, rather than the original plan for 2011. If you live out that way, you're still out of rapid transit luck.

Also from the Metro, they say the Broadway line, which will connect the Millenium Line with UBC, is still up in the air and there is no timeline for this route. In the meantime, UBC students are stuck with the 99 B-Line.
