Bright Nights Stanley Park Christmas Train starts on Friday

banner_brightnights3.jpg

For over 20 years, Vancouver families have flocked to Stanley Park for the Bright Nights Christmas Train. Starting this Friday, this year's train will be open, running through to January 3.

The spectacle features much more than just the train. There are over 1 million lights strung up in the forest, and kids can visit Santa. You can buy hot chocolate, fresh popcorn and roasted chestnuts and pistachios. Plus, you can visit the Children's Farmyard.

You can get a taste of the magic by visiting the Bright Nights plaza for free, but you'll need to pay admission to ride the train or visit the farmyard. Tickets are $8 for adults or $5 for kids and seniors. Partial proceeds go to the BC Professional Fire Fighters' Burn Fund.

You can learn more about the Bright Nights train here.

I am a member of the Kamloops Sr. Citizens Railway Society. Our group operates a miniature train at the B.C. Wildlife Park from mid-May to October and from mid- December to Jan. 4/09 during the annual Wildlights celebration. We puchased our train from Chance Rides, Wichita, Kansas in 1998. I would be interested to hear of your
experience with the train at Stanley Park, particularly during the Bright Nights festivities. Thank you.
