Border Waits Will Be Normal During 2010 Games

borderwait.jpg

When the Olympic Games roll in Vancouver in less than two years, you can probably expect some minor alterations to your daily routine. Driving around town, you may find that there are quite a few more cars on the road. You may also notice that it will be nearly impossible to find a hotel room for any of your out of town guests. According to a senior Canadian border official, however, traffic at the border will be "no busier during the 2010 Winter Olympics than a summer Saturday."

That's not really saying much. I don't know about you, but the last time that I tried to take a quick jaunt south of the border for a shopping trip, I ended up sitting in my car for three hours before I was State-side. Coming back wasn't much better. In this way, you can probably expect some rather lengthy delays when the Games come, but it won't be any busier than what you've grown accustomed to for Saturday States shopping.

"We'll have volumes essentially like a busy summer Saturday but we'll have them in the middle of February."
