Ballot Rules on Vision Vancouver Mayoral Bid Set

visionvancouver.jpg

We're getting that much closer to deciding the next American President, but we've got just as heated a race going on right in our own city. As we inch our way toward the next Vancouver mayoral election, Vision Vancouver must also decide on its candidate and the board has now decided on how the ballot process on June 15 will work.

Instead of the usual process where voters would mark over a single selection, all voters are "strongly encouraged" to mark off a first and second choice on their ballots. The footnote to that is that voters are not required to mark off a second choice. Ballots with just a single selection will not be considered spoiled.

The campaigns supporting Raymond Louie, pictured, and Allan De Genova do not agree with this decision. They say that Gregor's team "won on that one" and they are "disappointed."
