Baby Beluga Remains Without a Name

beluga-name.jpg

The big news in the city surrounds a giant baby that is currently swimming around happily with its mother. A baby beluga whale was born at Vancouver Aquarium on Tuesday afternoon, but the staff at the Aquarium are in no rush to give the young whale a name. After all, while they believe that it is a female, they won't be certain until the beluga is at least a few months of age.

At this point, the health of the baby and its mother Qila are of the utmost importance. Staff are continuing to monitor both the new calf and mother, the latter of which needed a little help from her own mother to get the maternal instincts in check. In terms of naming the baby, "It's not going to happen any time soon,'' said aquarium spokesperson Kent Hurl.

Do you have a suggestion for a name? Feel free to write to the Aquarium to voice your opinion.
