By and large, I think that most of us would agree that Arthur Griffiths' reign as the owner of the Vancouver Canucks didn't quite go as well as he had planned. Known in some circles as "Artie", the Vancouver businessman has now formally announced that he plans to enter the world of politics. It's not that different than managing a hockey team, I'd say. There's still talk of money, partnerships, and a few teeth knocked loose.
Arthur Griffiths plans to seek the nomination with the B.C. Liberal Party, looking to represent the newly created Vancouver West End riding in the 2009 provincial election. He lives in a mansion in Point Grey, so he's probably in touch with the rest of his wealthy neighbours. The Vancouver West End may be a slightly different demographic, I'd imagine. Living by English Bay is a little different than living by UBC.
"This has been a dream of mine to get into public life in this way," said the 50-year-old Griffiths.

www.griffiths09.com is his new website, I attented an event for the launch of the site last night. Arthur was engaging, self deprecating and I am now a supporter! Good luck - Patrica, 55 - West End
I also attended an event with him, and he will not have my support. I will probably be voting for whomever the BC Conservatives put up. Campbell's lost my vote.
Griffiths doesn't know what he is talking about, and he doesn't even live here.
Arthur Griffiths hasn't got a clue about how most people live. He was born into great wealth and is still supported by that wealth today. He hasn't even been able to keep a job! The Olympic bid society of which he chaired, was a volunteer, unpaid position and as soon as that dissolved he was quickly removed from the bid corporation.

Griffiths has got to be a joke candidate. Does he think he can buy the election? Well I guess he's got the money to try if he didn't lose it all in bad business dealings.
He and Campbell are the same kind of guys - all big money, all the time for the big business backers. This won't play well in the West End where I live.
