Are you part of the Human Race?

You've probably seen the signs around town for Nike's Human Race coming up on August 31. But did you know that Vancouver is the only Canadian city -- one of 25 cities around the world -- that's part of this event? Apparently the success of the Sun Run put Vancouver on Nike's radar as a potential Canadian spot for the Human Race.

Nike is billing the Human Race as the first global 10K race. With a million runners starting at different times all over the world, the race really does move from one city to another. Vancouver's run is the second-last, starting at 7 p.m. LA finishes up the race with the latest start time.

Registration for the race is $50, and you can choose a charity to to collect pledges for: the World Wildlife Fund, the Lance Armstrong Foundation, or ninemillion.org. A portion of your registration fee also goes to your charity, and it gets you a Human Race t-shirt to wear on race day.

The Vancouver race kicks off on August 31 at 7 p.m. at the corner of Georgia Street and Cambie Street, and there will be a race-day concert to check out after the event. You'll also be able to see clips from the other world-wide races.

You can register for the Vancouver Human Race here.
