Aquabus: Choose a regular ferry, Cyquabus, or antique boat

IMG_0786.JPG

One of the truly great ways to spend $5 or less in Vancouver is to hop on the Aquabus. I recently took one of the little ferries from Granville island home to Yaletown, and was reminded how much I love passing by the house boats in False Creek.

The Aquabus, and the competing False Creek Ferries, are the only way to travel in style if you've got to get to Granville Island. The bus? Pshaw -- it's so lacking in charm. ;-)

Aquabus has three styles of boat -- the traditional ferries, the larger Cyquabus boats designed to carry cyclists (shown above) and one antique wooden boat that they recommend as the vessel of choice for those doing the false creek mini-tour.

Adult tickets for a one-way crossing range from $3 to $6 on the Aquabus, and $2.50 - $5 on False Creek Ferries. Both companies offer discounted rated for children and seniors, as well as books of tickets that result in savings for regular commuters.

Both companies also offer a mini cruise of False Creek (about 25 minutes long) for $6.
