Academic Experts Study Insite Research

insite_frontdoor.jpg

Vancouver's Insite safe injection site has a future that is pretty far up in the air. There is some research that supports its existence, even if it has -- thus far -- served as an experiment to see if government-sanctioned supervised injection sites are a good idea or not. Is this research skewed?

Well, the RCMP has hired a team of academic experts to scrutinize this very research, saying that this research review is part of being an "effective and impartial police force." It is interesting that the RCMP is the one launching this review and not some other government agency. Is this really an issue with breaking the law at this point? Isn't it more of a job for legislative bodies?

There have been allegations that the RCMP is trying to get research to discredit Insite. Presumably, these academic experts are impartial.
