One of the best things about living in a city that is blessed with such incredible geography and amenities, is the ability to take a vacation in your own city. Perhaps like no other city in Canada, Vancouver offers its residents unparalleled options to 'get away' while not really going anywhere.
If you've lived in this city for any length of time, you inevitably find your own 'go to' places or walks that you take when you need to get away from the stresses of your everyday life. Whether it is a nature hike through the endowment lands, sitting on a bench overlooking the northshore mountains, or a walk around the seawall, Vancouver (on a nice day) has that rare ability to transcend your state of mind and alter it for the better. When I travel or meet up with family and friends in other cities I often get asked how I feel about living here. It can best be summed up this way, 'Some people have therapy, I have Vancouver'.
One of my favourite benches in the city are the ones at the end of Dunbar off Point Grey Road. For those who don't live here, take a 1-minute break Vancouver-style by watching this relaxing video taken at this spot. What do you like to do and where do you go to de-stress and relax in Vancouver?
