In order for any major event to be successful, there's a good chance that you need a healthy complement of sponsors and suppliers. The 2010 Winter Olympic Games are no exception and now another name has been added to the list of official this and official that. Sun Microsystems will be the firm behind the computer network wherein the press can communicate with one another, as do all of the Olympic representatives.

More specifically, Sun Microsystems will be the "Official Computer Network Server Supplier" for the Olympc Games. This was announced by the organizing committee earlier today in Markham. The computer firm will supply all the computer infrastructure and installation support for the two-week sporting event.

“The Olympic Games run on information, and Sun servers will provide the platform to deliver it to the world,” said Andy Canham, president of Sun Microsystems of Canada Inc. “Sun has a legacy of working with major sports leagues and events, including the National Hockey League, Canadian Football League and the Salt Lake 2002 Olympic Winter Games. Now we will bring that expertise to Vancouver for the 2010 Games."
