2010 Olympic Construction Is On Track

Yes, it's a bit scary when you realize that the 2010 Winter Olympic Games are less than three years away. Taking a look around the city, you have Cambie Street all shredded up into pieces and there are construction cranes everywhere you turn. According to organizers, everything is on track and the preparations for the 2010 Games are very much in place.

John Furlong, chief executive of the organizing committee, told reporters, "We are moving from construction to operational phases." The Alpine World Cup, which is scheduled to take place next February, will be the first test for these new facilities. Whistler is home to one of the new 2010 venues that will be used for the Alpine World Cup.

"We were all impressed about the venues and the sites," said Rene Fasel, chairman of the coordination commission.
