2009 Juno Awards Coming to Vancouver

nelly-furtado-juno.jpg

The 2008 Juno Awards are scheduled to take place in Calgary this April, hosted by Russell Peters, but what about the 2009 music awards? Well, the announcement has just come down the pipeline that our very own Vancouver will play host to the 2009 Juno Awards, likely headlined by great Canadian acts like Nelly Furtado, Avril Lavigne, and Finger Eleven.

The date has already been set for March 29, 2009 when the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences storms into our city limits to give out a wide range of Juno Awards. CARAS president Melanie Berry feels that Vancouver is a "natural fit to host Canada's music awards show", because it is a "city well known for its diversity, inclusiveness and cultural heritage."

As part of the festivities, Vancouver will also serve as host to a four-day weekend of events including the Juno Cup, Juno Fan Fare and the Songwriters' Circle.
