200,000 Left Without Power After Massive Windstorm

windstorm.jpg

I'm sure you experienced some of this yesterday. A massive windstorm tore through Vancouver and the surrounding area yesterday, tearing through and causing all sorts of damage. In fact, as a result of the windstorm, 200,000 people were left without electricity and BC Hydro is still working on all of the necessary repairs.

Power lines were downed and much travel -- including both ferry crossings and flights -- had to be canceled. It just wasn't safe. Vancouver Island was also severely affected by the storm. Winds gusted up to 90 km/h on several occasions. These were mostly in the morning and Mother Nature started to calm down in the afternoon.

Looking outside, it's bright and sunny, so I think we're through the worst of it.
